Mission: Doing What We Do Best

And Now For The Conclusion..

Bridge

Raven was fighting every instinct she had to do SOMETHING ANYTHING to make the other 'team' make a move!

[Sit on your hands until the Captain gives you an order!] Raven scolded herself mentally, lifting one hand to her mouth and attacking her nails...a habit she'd not indulged in for some time.

Calypso watched as the second of three ships continued to have internal explosions from the volley that Chimera had fired into it, "Helm, course 215 aspect change up ten degrees." It was as close as she dared turn towards the big ship's location, but one way or another she intended to finish this as quickly as possible. The Dashians were NOT going to be happy about this group having been out here, but perhaps they wouldn't mind her dealing with them.

"Ricarmechafelmod!...er, aye, Captain," Raven'd been concentrating a little too hard...and almost missed the Captain's order! Raven's hands danced across the Holokeys, calming as the ship responded to her commands.

"Kellerman, if you're in their systems, tell me you can shut them down. If not, I'm in a shoot-first, ask questions later mood right now." She waited for several seconds, then repeated the name again, "Katie? I need an answer, now or never."

The answer came on the viewscreen as the final ship came into view as the cloaking field collapsed and the ships stopped their assault.

"Raven, punch it, attack pattern Farragut, give us a shot on both aspects of that ship." Her eyes were hungry as the massive target loomed in front of them, easily three or four times the size of Chimera, "Rala, give me positions on weapons and those shield nodes, feed them to Tactical, Ned, fire on those positions only, then target engines and hold. Becca, get me comms to that ship."

"Awoo, baby! Let's rock!" Raven crowed, proverbially putting the 'pedal to the metal'.

“On it,” Rala said, directing Chimera’s sensors toward the hostile ship, hunting for the particular types of energy signatures that typically denoted weapons and shield emitters. In a few seconds, she had a dozen precise targets. “Got ‘em. Sending to Tactical now.”

Ned the Tactical officer received the data stream from the Draakri and fed them into the targeting stream, a flurry of phaser bursts impacting the bottom of the ship, small secondary explosions echoing in their wake, then the ship came up and another series of shots spat out, still only phasers with the same result.

It took a few tries to establish a stable comm channel to the ship. Hard to really negotiate a clear transmission with all the residual energy from the massive cloaking field collapsing. "Scanning..... scanning.... There, opening a comm broadcast to their active monitor frequency now. They're listening, but if they want to reply that's up to them." the diminutive officer announced, before the distinct chirp of a comm channel opening was broadcast. She was live.

Espersen stepped onto the bridge, holstered his sidearm, and took position next to his Captain, giving her a quick nod.

Despite the lack of visual feed, Calypso straightened in her seat, "This is Captain Skyie of the Federation Starship Chimera. We have disabled your shields and your weapons and are about to target your engines. You are helpless beneath our weapons." She took a deep breath as she waited for several seconds with no response, "You are in violation of Hegemony Code Two-Four One regarding Freedom of Trade Lanes." She wasn't sure she liked having to quote Dashian merchant regulations, but they weren't in the Federation.

That did get a response however, "We do not recognize the Hegemony as the power in the region." The burbling voice announced as if speaking through a scuba rig, "We live by our own volition."

"That as may be." Calypso continued on, "But you are doing it in Hegemony recognized space. I have been deputized by the Hegemony Fleet to intervene in judicial affairs when no Hegemony Fleet units are available to respond."

"WE DO NOT OBEY THE HEGEMONY." The voice shouted into their comm. Ahead of them, the large ship began to turn, then started to move forward, towards Chimera and Calypso just watched, "The Hegemony will burn, should it take a thousand years longer." The comm line clicked as the other ship turned off their comm.

"Take out their engines." Calypso sighed, "Helm, get us out of their way, Ops, prepare a tractor beam to slow their trajectory to a stop. Science, sorry to keep you on comm duty, but open a subspace comm to the Hegemony to report the position and situation." Several more lances of phaser fire shot out at the engines of the larger ship as the Captain looked away.

"Not very bright, are they?" Raven smirked before she started humming a hunting song she'd gotten a fellow racer to teach her, punching the Holokeys in rhythm to the song.

"Uniform of blue, I'll connect you." Rebecca rhymed while she called up the bandwidth information for the Hegemony. Required reading for travel in their controlled territory. Once she had gotten through to a representative, she reported the location and the situation. She had long since figured out the distance for the comm scanner to disguise her diminutive stature. That was one of the first tricks she learned.

"Kellerman still has access to their computer system," Alexander reported. "Now that we're not in danger, we can take our time to take advantage of that. Until we're locked out, at least."

[Drop that beat now!] Raven mentally howled, excitment coursing through her veins.

"Captain, picking up some strange readings from the other ship." Rebecca called in, "Update, they're heat blooms! RCS manifolds and power conduits are popping along primary and secondary lines!" the diminutive officer chimed in as the readings came in.

"OH SWITCHFOOT!" Raven swore, trying not to react without authorization...or fear.

Calypso watched the screen and her shoulders slumped. "Such a waste of life." She said softly, glancing over at Raven, "Move us away, Miss Windancer, make sure our shields are at maximum." As her eyes went back to the screen, the seams of the ship seemed to glow even brighter.

"Aye, Captain...[don't cry, Raven]," Raven swallowed hard, fighting back bile and tears at the needless loss of life.

Rala grimaced and let out a frustrated breath through her teeth as her sensor readouts showed her exactly what was happening.

The ship blew apart, no chance for any survivors, not that their own captain had been willing to surrender.

"Valleroy to bridge," Mark voice came over the intercom, "Transporter room 1 is secure."

Intruders were taken care of, that was good. "Thank you Mark." She said softly, "Do a sweep of the ship, make sure we don't have any other stowaways, please."

Cally turned and noticed her Executive Officer, wondering for a moment how long he'd been watching and she nodded with a half smile to him, "Alex, it's just cleanup detail at this point. Pick a junior officer and oh... A dozen ratings or so as a prize crew and coordinate with Natalya to get that ship on the way back to the closest Dashian base. I'll be in my ready room." Her voice seemed defeated.

Interesting, the XO thought as he watched his Captain walk off. We won though. He would need to talk with her after he was back. For now, he had orders. He quickly inputted written commands into the console on his chair, summoning one junior officer and twelve enlisted crewmembers to either transporter room two (team one) or the shuttlebay (team two). "Lieutenant McMillen, you have the conn," he said before departing, leaving as quickly as he'd arrived.

Rala ran a hand through her hair, pausing to scratch a spot between her horns. “Well,” she muttered, “this was not at at all how I expected this day, or this hour, to go.”

"Ain't that the truth?" Raven agreed, finally settling her emotions enough to talk without whimpering.

"Aye aye, the conn is mine." Rebecca confirmed, before turning to the bridge proper, "Yeah that was unusual." She agreed, shaking her head, "Just stay frosty, we're not out of the weirdness yet."

"Hrumf! No kidding," Raven snorted softly.
