Location: Katie's Quarters

The chime to Katie's quarters wasn't broken, merely ignored. A passcode was quickly entered and the doors opened obediently, not caring that the room's occupant was already inside.

A blonde flash ran in and rushed over to the bed, PADD in hand, and grabbed Katie's hip, shaking her. "Kat! Kat! Wake up!"

Katie groaned sleepily, pulling the blankets up higher. "Jadizon, I'm too tired for sex right now. Go get Kally."

"I am Kally," Kally said, shaking Katie again.

Katie groaned again. "Kally, I'm too tired for sex right now. Go get Jadizon." A moment later she was breathing deep again.

Kally huffed, then grinned as an idea struck her. She leaned over near Katie's ear, upping her accent to sound like their mother. "Katarina! You're late for class!"

"Scheiße!" Katie said, her eyes flying open. She threw back the sheets onto Kally and jumped out of bed. She stopped short as she realized her dresser wasn't where it normally was, and began looking around in panic. As her brain caught up with the rest of her, she realized where and when she was, turned and saw Kally disentangling herself from the bed sheets and frowned.

"Is there some regulation I'm not aware of that says I'm not allowed to sleep in on my day off?" Katie said.

"You can sleep later. We have a party to plan for," Kally said, tossing Katie the PADD.

Katie caught it and returned to her bed, lying down as Kally joined her and they turned to face each other. "The Captain's throwing a party?"

"Not just a party," Kally said, excitedly. "A Hello-een party!"

"Hello-een?" Katie said, trying to place the word.

"It's that Terran holiday," Kally said. "Remember? They all dress up in costumes, play party games and give each other candies and chocolates?" When Katie simply continued to give a confused look, Kally said, "third year, Cadet Gutierrez from our Quad tried to get us to go with him as Lady Godiva, but you researched who it was before he could get us to promise and you realized he was just angling to see us naked, remember?"

"Ohhhhh yeah," Katie said. "Although I'm pretty sure it's pronounced 'hallow-een'," she said.

"Right, right," Kally said. "Halloween. The ship's children will come around to get treats or tricks and then the Captain's throwing a party for the senior staff and guests later that night!"

"Well, I doubt it'll be like the Academy, but it sounds fun," Katie said.

"Yeah, well I wouldn't be so sure," Kally said. "Knowing the Captain, she's going to be in something fantastic. And I was thinking what our costumes could be." She scrolled through her notes and showed Katie the pictures. "This was my idea."

Katie looked through the costumes and raised an eyebrow. "Not unexpected, but they look cool," she said. "How do you plan to make the accessories?"

"Well, given your recent experience with holo-technology, I thought you could help with that," Kally said.

"Well," Katie sighed, "I'll be honest, I've had limited success. I can't get the emitters to do what I want on the level I want. Plus, if we used holograms to project costumes, it would limit our movement. One wrong step and we'd just be naked and our costumes would be in the air behind us."

Kally mulled that over. "Could be fun..." she said, then waved away the idea. "Nevermind. I think I actually found a shortcut to that." She scrolled through her research. "Xantherian gloves."

"Who are the Xantherians?" Katie said.

"They make Arbazans look like Risians," Kally said. "Most sexually-repressed species in the galaxy. They can't even tolerate the idea of sex with each other for reproduction. It's completely taboo."

"So, basically, your idea of Hell," Katie teased.

"Shut up," Kally said. "My point is, they use these gloves as...camouflage."

"Camouflage?" Katie said, confused.

"They pretend to be other species. That way, it isn't them having sex. The schematics are in the ship's systems. I figured we could adapt it to our needs to create some costumes."

"It's possible," Katie said. "Might help me with another project, too," she said. "The micro-circuitry looks interesting..."

"So...we're go for the party?" Kally said, sounding excited.

Katie sighed, looking at her twin's excited expression. "I'll have them ready in time," she said.

Kally squealed and grabbed Katie, hugging her tight and kissing her. "You're the best! And let's be honest: Jadizon's going to melt when he sees you." She gave Katie a wink and another kiss.

Katie blushed a bit, but grinned. "Would be fun to see his face when he sees us," she said. "And it would be nice to socialize a bit and see him in a less formal, but more public setting."

"That's the spirit!" Kally said, grinning, then pouted as Katie got up. "Where are you going?"

"Well, now I'm awake, and apparently I have work to do, so I'm going to get dressed and get to my office," Katie said, sticking her tongue out.

Kally gave a 'hmph" and got up as well. "All right. I'll see you an hour before the party and we'll get suited up. And remember! Don't tell anyone our costumes! Let's make a good entrance!"

Katie waved and headed for a shower, trying to decide what project to work on first.
