Raven was excited for her day in the Holodeck with Rebecca! After all the craziness of the past few days, weeks, months? Raven wasn't sure anymore, a day of racing was just what she needed!
Rebecca kept up as best she could to keep up with Raven, a smile wide on her diminutive features. "Oh this is going to be so much fun." she called up as the pair entered the Holodeck. "Okay, so let's get this built, and let's get this started." she was so psyched for this.
"Yeah! Hey, could you make me small so I can experience the world from your point of view?" Raven was intrigued by the idea. While Raven knew pretty much all there was to know about racing, doing so at a different size could change the playing field in so many ways!
"Well, yes and no. Hmmmm... Hey, okay I have *AN* idea. Let's see if it's a good one. Ummmm, take about ten steps back." Rebecca suggested, while summoning a smaller version of the holodeck command console. Once Raven had taken a few steps back, Rebecca got to work. "Okay so, the Holodeck works on holography and applied force to make things look and feel real. So, if I partition the holodeck with a static boundary..."
An opaque wall came up between Raven and Rebecca, and Raven's side of the holodeck went back to default black and yellow boxes before shimmering back to the previous view. Except everything was enormous. Except for Rebecca, who looked relatively... Normal. The universe's sense of humor kicked in still: Rebecca was shorter than Raven. Not by AS much, now.
"Little trick I learned. So, Hi."
"OH. MY. SPEED RACER! This is so AWESOME!" Raven squealed, whirling around and taking it all in before looking slightly down at Rebecca.
"Hi. Ok, that's just sad," Raven tried not to giggle at the irony...but it came out anyway.
"Man, so THIS is how you see the world...yikes," Raven took another, slower, look around, appreciating her normal hight all the more from this perspective.
Rebecca giggled along with Raven as, despite everything, she was still shorter. "I mean, I could adjust the math if you're tired of being the tall one..." she teased, but just motioned around. "Yeah, this is my world. Except there aren't any looming giants in the holodeck. Figured I'd spare you the trauma of being eye level with shoelaces."
"So the nice part is the holodeck does all the math, well I mean it does it all now. So what did you have in mind for a track?" Rebecca inquired.
"I was thinking something with a bit of action...and a few loops'd be fun," Raven grinned, starting to get excited all over again.
"Hmmm, how about..." Rebecca pulled up a PaDD with various tracks on it. Daytona, Monza, Silverstone.... "Okay so these... are F1 tracks, back when internal combustion engines were king and speed was country. We can stretch some of the straightaways and put in some speed panels and a loop or two. You know, real Speed Racer meets Hot Wheels stuff."
"Ow, baby! THAT'S the ticket!" Raven howled excitedly.
Rebecca worked with the *SLIGHTLY TALLER* Raven (totally no rivalry there) to make a fun track of sorts. There's NO WAY this thing would work outside of a controlled and simulated environment, but half the fun was that this was so impossible that it was fun! Banks, loops, even a corkscrew at high speeds. Finally, the car. A sweet piece of engineering inside the shell of a speedster.
"There. What do you think? Ready to take her for a spin?" the SLIGHTLY SHORTER blonde offered with a smile. It didn't bother her. It didn't bother her. EvERYONE was taller than her...
"Oh heck ya!! Let's do this!!" Raven war whooped, pulling two cartwheels she was so pumped!
"So! Do we have cool racing outfits, helmets, or do we go it old-school?" Raven asked.
"Well, this IS the holodeck, so we can do anything as far as outfits go. So, any preferences? Standard racer uniforms, some Speed Racer craziness? Hot Wheels? The sky is the limit girl!" Rebecca was just pretty excited to have someone (roughly) her own height to hang out with. "Hey, you know, aside from a MINOR problem with someone being TOO TALL....... this is nice."
"Pff, we'll fix that eventually! Lets mix Hot Wheels Battle Force Five and Speed Racer!" Raven was getting psyched!
"Hey, let's make it more interesting and have a night race!" Raven grinned wolfishly.
"A night race it is!" Rebecca brought up a menu of various racecars stored in memory. Famous authentic cars, as well as outlandish fictional cars. Formula 1E cars next to the Batmobile and the Mach 5. All relatively scaled, no pun intended.
"Oooo! So. Many. CARS Raven was practically DROOLING at this point, her eyes bugging out at the stellar collection.
"I take it your a car enthusiast?" she asked with a smirk. "Seems there's quite the cultural library on board already. Go on, I'll let you pick first."
"Eyupers! Oooo! Ok, let's see...the Batmobile!" Raven was practically bouncing on her toes in excitement!
Rebecca made her choice next, and the race of the century was about to begin. The Batmobile against Rebecca's choice of automobile: The Black Beauty. "I went with another masked superhero. Green Hornet's car. A 1966 Imperial Crown, it was quite the sight next to the legendary Batmobile. "I'm not exactly a Car Girl, but I can't deny I like how some of them look and work. I guess in an Alternate Universe, I'm an Engineer." a pause, "And taller." she giggled, able to laugh at the moment.
"*Whistle!* That's a beauty too! Pfff...yeah I think you are!" Raven giggled as she stepped into the Batmobile.
"So, Gentleladies... start your engines!" Rebecca announced as she got in.
