Reports in the interim

Mark went through some of the recent reports. He liked to keep informed about certain things to begin with, though in this case he was also helping to cover for Ensign Rouen, who had been called away to attend to a family emergency. Two reports in particular caught his attention.

There was a new science chief on board. Mark actually did a double take on the indicated size of the newest member of the senior staff. At first, he wondered if it was a typo, or if perhaps someone was trying to play a practical joke of some sort, but then noticed that there was an annotation to the personnel file noting that yes, the information was indeed accurate. Well, Mark didn't envy the ship's quartermaster when it came to preparing the lieutenant's new quarters.

There was also a more detailed report as to the call that had taken Cmdr. Espersen away from the conversation over his recent planetside purchase. 'Oh, good grief,' Mark though when he read over it. Apparently, he may have to start sending out a description of the uniforms of local law enforcement to the crew prior to future missions involving shoreleave, especially on non-Federation worlds. PO Benvenuto was fortunate - the assault of a law enforcement officer charge alone was the kind of thing not looked upon kindly on pretty much any world out there, even if it was an apparent case of mistaken identity.

Well, there was certainly never a dull moment around here, was there?
