Try not to wreck the place...

Mission: Lower Decks

Mark stopped by his quarters to grab a couple of things before the away mission. He found his two nephews in the main sitting area.

"Now, I'll be going off-ship for a bit," he told the two of them. "Captain has given the XO permission to check up on some old archaeological digs on a nearby planet in order to follow up on some old weapon he found in a market on the last planet we were at, and I'm guess I'm to go along to keep him and the other away team members out of too much trouble."

"I'm guessing we aren't coming along," Corey said.

"Yep," Mark said. "Nothing too interesting there for you anyway. It'll just be poking around some old ruins on an uninhabited planet where the weather leaves a lot to be desired. Not much there to keep you two occupied. Heck, probably not much there to keep me occupied. I'm just there to be the responsible one."

Connor laughed, then clamped his hands over his mouth. "Oh, sorry," he said in a muffled but obviously not-sorry voice. "Was that out loud?" Corey snickered.

Mark bopped his nephews on the top of their heads. "And you two wonder why I never take you anywhere."

"But why do I get the feeling that we're not entirely left alone?" Connor asked.

"Maybe because you know I'm not leaving two people alone for a potentially significant length of time who aren't even old enough to shave yet?" Mark asked. "I've spoken with Michelle and she'll be checking in with you. Remember her word in my absence is law, so when I get back I expect to hear that you two have been on your best behavior while I'm gone, though hopefully it shouldn't be more than a few hours at most."

"What, us not being on our best behavior?" Corey asked, pulling an innocent face. "Why sir, you wound us!"

"You're young, You'll survive," Mark said dryly.
