Mission: Pirates! (Or Yo Ho Ho And A Bottle Of Yum)
Location: Captain's Quarters

Calypso Skyie laid down on her back on her couch, then closed her eyes. The cargo run had been something simple, something to bolster their cover as a Starfleet-based freighter with a crew that had been relegated to the duty, with a new Captain after the old one wasn't even drubbed out in disgrace, just disappeared.

Aegean Sea.. She hated that name for her beautiful Chimera, but given that the ship wasn't her ship at the very moment... Intelligence was not her cup of tea and she wished she'd actually had a true Intelligence officer on board to figure out all the details that ashe herself was missing. And with Natalya not on board and in danger? It wasn't a good feeling in general. This had been a bad idea... They should have taken the other path and she just felt that in her gut.

She sighed as she opened her eyes again. They were back at the starbase, just a standard 'layover' while the base 'loaded cargo', which had consisted of the drones that Commander Espersen had suggested, immobilizing satellites that could at least keep the Venture from getting away. If Chimera could at least take out three ships of the pirate squadron, the last could be hunted down almost at her leisure. But who was the damned Captain of the crew? Who was the one that had pulled them together? It was a piece of intelligence that should have been discovered, but was notably absent in the documents she'd been given.

She suddenly got restless and sat straight up, curling her legs underneath her as she couldn't help but twitch with frustration at a lack of knowledge. Six months this group had been out here, slowly but surely building up their raids. They hadn't hit any ships of the Fleet yet, hence this disguise, but that was careful for a pirate with the units that this one had. An Intrepid as a flagship was a dream come true for a pirate Captain. If she were him... She'd be pulling out about now. Stay in an area for a few months, then remove oneself to another location to rinse and repeat.

But this person was staying in the area, unless they were content with low-grade raids before moving on. In fact, the hits that they'd made were all for relatively minor cargos, the ships themselves then? Even an older freighter could be worth some big credits parted out. A ship like Chimera? If she could get them to come in close, close enough to get in the first shot on that Intrepid...

The Venture-class was already out of her mind, the drones would immobilize it long enough to take it apart. That would then leave... A Steamrunner and one of the relatively updated Miranda-class ships if she remembered right. Those two ships couldn't even stay away from Chimera, much less outfight her. If they were silly enough to bring all four into the ambush, which was her hope, she could end this in an afternoon.

But that was the whole reason for Natalya's trip. To convince him that she was carrying cargo worthy of bringing in their entire force to make sure none of it got away. But would it work? Or was Natalya already dead? THAT was what was haunting her, and Cally knew it. She'd lost good people from Chimera already, she didn't want to lose any more than she already had.

She sighed heavily... She didn't know if she were looking forward to their eventual mission, out of the Federation. One where her best guess would probably make policy for the Federation itself. First contact with alien species, new civilizations that had never even heard of the Federation. It would most certainly be... A new start. For all of them.

She shot to her feet and began to pace in front of the couch, before sitting back down and bouncing about again. Sixteen hours left until she knew if her trap had worked. To learn if she'd sent someone else to their death. Sixteen hours that she knew she couldn't sleep for, not until she knew.
