Personality & Traits

Personal History Jeanine - (“Call me JJ”) - Jeffries - (“Yes, I’ve heard every joke”) - was born in County Cork, Ireland.

Her father, a fisherman by trade, often took her out in the early mornings on the waters off Cobh. It was there that she began to learn about the little fusion engine that powered the boat.

She dissected every word of what her father said. It sparked a fascination in her that settled deep into her soul.

It was a seed that sprouted, and grew into something that would lead her to Starfleet.

Her time at the Academy was marked by two prominent events. These events would book-end her tenure as a Cadet.

The first, was in her Freshman year. The Engineering Annex on the San Francisco campus had a fully powered, and operating Mercurion Inova Inc. APD-01 Warp Core.

The beating heart of the Intrepid-class was a statement of power, and beauty. JJ had fallen in love at first sight. The flowing colours of the intermix chamber. The soft thrum in the floor.

She had rested her hand on the casing the first time she saw it. A moment between Cadet, and destiny.

The second defining moment came in her final year. An accomplished student of the technical sciences, JJ had recommendations from most of her professors for her to enter service as an Engineer. What finalised that was the paper.

A simulation, replacing a damaged warp coil, while a ship was at warp, showed a flaw in the procedure manual. The safety regulations had barely managed to keep things from turning into a disaster.

The Holodeck’s safety systems were the only thing between life and death.

JJ spent her final semester drafting a research paper - “Warp Coil Magnetic Fluctuations Under Stress” - it was the basis for a rewrite of the rulebook. At least, the rulebook that covered the replacement of Warp Coils.

Exhausted, but proud, Jeanine Jeffries was a published name in academic circles when she graduated.

Her first choice of assignments - the Luna-class USS Bellerophon - was not to be. Instead, she received a posting aboard the Centaur-class USS Perseus.

It was a posting that would marry her academic skills with practical ones.

The Perseus would only be a short-lived time.

As soon as an opportunity for a Luna-class assignment came up, JJ grabbed at it with both hands and didn't care what the reputation of the ship was.
