Chamomile Tea

Mission: The Boneyard Heist
Location: Sickbay, CO'S Office

Minerva guided her distraught friend into the office and sat her down in a chair. She left Jenna's side long enough to retrieve a cup of tea from the replicator and sit in the chair next to Jenna. "Chamomile tea, it will help calm you."

Jenna reclaimed Minerva's hand and squeezed it tightly as her eyes leaked tears, the stress of what had happened finally bleeding off, "Oh God, Minerva, he's gonna die, isn't he? If Ah'd been just a bit faster, if Ah hadn't panicked, Ah could have gotten to him in time."

Minerva coaxed Jenna into taking the tea cup and saucer. She then brushed back the disheveled hair and wiped the tears from Jenna's cheeks. "He is not going to die. He has our two most experienced surgeons doing everything in their power to see that doesn't happen. Right now you need to pull yourself together."

Hope came to Jenna's eyes, "Are you sure? That one doc was sayin' that it was a complete mess there, that they may have to amputate." She was getting it wrong, but the mind played tricks on the memory in times of stress, "The Skipper said he'll be fine, but Ah just don't know... Ah don't know what Ah'd do if somethin' happened to him, Minerva, I really don't."

Minerva gently grasped Jenna's shoulders. "Jenna Jade. You are going to send your prayers and positive thoughts to that handsome young man in surgery. You are going to calm yourself down and we are going to go back to our quarters long enough for you to shower. I am going to brush your hair and get you into a comfortable outfit. Then we will come back here and wait for him to wake up in the recovery room."

Jenna shook her head, "Ah can't leave, Minerva, not while he's in there." She objected, but it was a weak objection and even she knew that it was, "Ah don't wanna leave him here by himself. He put his life on the line to protect me, how can Ah go any further away while he's layin' there?"

Minerva went into motherly mode. "He is going to be in surgery for a while. I promise I will have you back here before they take him to recovery. Besides I know the perfect outfit for you to have on when he wakes up."

Nodding, Jenna finished the still hot tea in a single gulp and stood, never releasing Minerva. "All right." She agreed, "You know Ah trust you. It ain't gonna give him a heart attack when he sees me, will it?" She asked with a blush, part of her hoping it would, well, figuratively, not literally.

Minerva kept her arm around Jenna as he led her out of the office. She glanced at the Duty Nurse. "We'll be back shortly."

The Nurse gave a nod.

Two minutes later they were in their quarters. Minerva got Jenna to the fresher and started a warm water shower for Jenna. "Robes there. You shower and I will meet you at the vanity when you are done in the shower."

She spent a long time in the shower, washing dirt, dust and blood off carefully and thoroughly, looking at where she'd done the damage to herself in her panic to get out of the holodeck. It was all healed over now, the doc having done a good job of healing it up. Finally, she turned it off and dried off, tying the sash of the robe and then padding her way out to the vanity, putting on a smile that she really didn't feel, but appearances had to be kept.

Minerva sat Jenna down in the chair and took a hair dryer and brush and slowly worked on Jenna's hair. She took about ten minutes and worked quietly. She was there to talk if Jenna felt like it, otherwise she would just help get Jenna ready to go back to Sickbay. Once Jenna's hair was dry and brushed out she went and retrieve the outfit she had picked out. A simple white blouse, blue jeans, conservative panties, socks and sensible flats. "Keep it simple and...you. I promise he will wake up and think you are the most beautiful angel in the cosmos."

The raven-headed woman didn't seen fully convinced about it, but she nodded in any case. Minerva had far more experience with men, in more ways than one, but this was different. "Ah'm scared, Minerva... What would happen if he thinks Ah'm too much trouble, that Ah can't keep up with him with the blade and that he really wants that? Ah know Ah'm borrowin' trouble, but..." She turned to look at her, "It's too early, but Ah think Ah love him, Minerva."

Minerva ran a finger through Jenna's hair. "You are a beautiful young woman Jenna Jade. You are one of the kindest souls I have ever known. I am sure he sees that. Don't worry about being what you think he wants. Be you and I am sure he will love you back just as much as you love him." Minerva hugged Jenna. "Now get dressed and I will walk you back when you're ready."

"All right." Jenna smiled before she shed the robe as Minerva left the room, not giving Jenna the chance to question why there was no bra in amongst the rest of the clothes. For a moment, she almost ran off to her room to grab one, but she knew she'd already spent far too much time away from medical and that Rene could wake up anytime potentially. So she got dressed quickly, needing a few extra seconds to squeeze into the jeans. Of course, that just meant they felt like a hug around the legs just as she liked when she wore them. She did take another moment to sneak into her room to grab one item that she'd add to her hair either on the way or after they got there. Then she knocked on Minerva's door, "All right, Ah'm ready." She reached out for her friend's hand as she exited.

Minerva walked next to Jenna the entire trip to Sickbay. She gave a nod to the nurse and pointed to the recovery room. "Is Ensign Rouen out of surgery yet and is it okay if someone sits with him?" The nurse looked up and nodded. Minerva walked Jenna to the door and stopped. She turned Jenna to face her and gave her one last check. She took notice of the beret and smiled. "You look perfect." She paused for a moment then reached up and unclasped one more button on the blouse. "Now you’re perfect. Go and wait for the luckiest guy on this ship to wake up."

"Ah thought Ah was the one goin' in there, not you, Minerva." Jenna managed a smile as she told her somewhat-joke. Most men would absolutely love to come out of a surgery to see the face and body of the blonde bombshell there waiting for them, but even she knew that she didn't want Minerva anywhere near him. Rene was hers, if she could keep him. She gave the science cadet another hug and kiss on the cheek, "Thanks again, you are my sanity, you know that?"

Minerva gave Jenna a light pat. "Go in there and wait for Prince Charming to wake up...before I loosen another button for him to wake up to." Minerva gave Jenna an eyebrow raise and grin that said 'Go for it girl.'

Jenna backed away as if Minerva were on fire, "Nuh uh, Ah don't really wanna give him a heart attack!" She eyed Minerva warily with a mischievous smile, then shook her head with a grateful look and vanished into the recovery room.
